If you’ve been in business for any length of time, I’m sure you’ve seen your share of advice on how to have success in Network Marketing or with any other type of business.  Some of this advice is good, some not so good and some Notable – advice that stirs something inside, resonating in such a way that sets in motion that spark that lights a fire in us.

I came across an article on forbes.com that falls under the “Notable” category that I want to share with you.  It’s The Top 10 Lessons Steve Jobs Taught Us.  None of the lessons are really anything new or surpising but, nevertheless, are insightful and very powerful if we put them into action.  Lessons like “You can’t connect the dots forward – only backward”; “Listen to that voice in the back of your head that tells you if you’re on the right track or not”; “Expect a lot from yourself and others”; “Find the most talented people to surround yourself with”; “Stay hungry, stay foolish”; “Anything is possible through hard work, determination, and a sense of vision”.

The lesson that really hit home for me is “Never fear failure” and the quote that followed.  The quote is from Steve Job’s 2005 Stanford commencement speech…

“No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.  Everything else is secondary.”

Wow!  Is that a Powerful Lesson or what???!!!   Below is the link to the Article.  When you’re done reading it, I would love it if you would take a few minutes to leave a comment below to let me know what you thought and which Lesson(s) resonate with you the most.

Then take action with these Powerful Lessons for Success in your Network Marketing or other business (or really anything you do in your life).  Soak them up and run with them!  Please also make sure to share with your friends and fellow business owners.

    Hi Laura,

One thing I’ve been living by now is pure faith! Faith in myself, faith in God, and faith in others!
It’s scary sometimes because we don’t have a roadmap to connect the dots, but when we walk in faith and totally believe in ourselves 100%, anything is possible.

    Thank you

You know Laura the most resonating line from the above paragraph is “And yet death is the destination we all share.”. How true these words are. We all know this but we hardly realize this. All the quotes have been put together in an ultimate fashion. I love this and feel lucky to come across this post. Thanks a ton!

    Hey Laura,

Thank you for this. You know, I’ve always admired Steve jobs because of his vision and work ethic. He knew he had the ability to do something great and he put everything else aside and went for it. That’s why he is considered as one of the brightest minds of this generation. And rightfully so.

I think if you are in business you should find the best people to surround yourself with!! Lee Iacocca did that when he was at Ford & Crysler worked great for him!!

    Hi Laura,

Thank you so much for sharing this article about the vision of Steve Jobs. I watched the speech he made highlighting many of these lessons, and it really hard to pick one as a favorite, becasue every single one is a gem.

I remember his speech when he said this, “Again, you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.” TRUST AND FAITH! He told about his story and how he changed careers, more than once, and at the time didn’t realize where it would lead. I needed to hear this again. Sometimes we get so caught up in the day to day stuff, we forget there is a much bigger picture!

The man was extraordinary whether you agreed with him in certain areas…or not.

    Thanks!

Very powerful message. I actually just heard this quote on my Success Magazine CD by Darren Hardy.
I absolutely love the quote: “Never fear failure”.

    That’s the key.
