Hi Laura!
I wholeheartedly agree that one of the best investments in ourselves is to constantly work on personal growth and development – or as some people refer to it “continuous education.”
I love your suggestion to carry a book with you … I have been doing this for years. As a matter of fact, I have all my e-books on my IPhone and IPod so no matter where I’m at or what I’m doing, I have instant access to something to read … and it’s much easier than carrying a book, although there are times (doctor’s or dentist office, etc.) when I do bring a book with me.
You’d be surprised how many times I start reading – you don’t realize until you start doing it all the time you waste waiting for something … in traffic at a stoplight or waiting for a train to go by, in line at the store (especially when the cashier is waiting for a price-check), waiting rooms, waiting for children at school, road trips (when I’m not driving – lol!), camping, fishing, at the gym!
I also have numerous recorded training calls on my IPhone and IPod too, so if it’s too hard to read something, I can listen to the calls! This is why I love downloadable recorded training calls 🙂
Great article, Laura! Looking forward to your next post!
I am an avid reader. I read about 2-3 books per week, almost exclusively non-fiction. I consider fiction “junk food for the mind”. I’m pretty old-fashioned – I get my books out of the library. One day I hope to get a Kindle, but not until I can get the books for next to free.
Laura,
You point is well taken. Learning is a life long deal. And, self development is also. I wondered for a while if I had to continue my self development exploration. It became obvious when I stopped there were consequences I was unwilling to put up with.
Thank you for a key reminder.

Laura, thanks, I have always enjoyed having a book with me at all times. I also keep several empowerment CD’s in my car. I call it self development university on the road. The commuting time is great to use it to invest in self-development.
I agree that working on personal growth and professional education could be considered as a great investment. I knew that free ebooks are available and could be accessible anywhere. But I am much careful in choosing ebooks because not all of free downloads are applicable. Thanks for the great insights.
Since my elementary days my mom introduce us kids any books. Now that I have a family of my own, I trained my kids to read books instead of roaming around the village. Any corner of our house has a book on it. That way they will just pick it up and read until it becomes a habit for them to constantly reads books.
Laura,
You’re so right. Reading is so important. I don’t really think you can read enough. On average I read about a book a week. If I had the time it would be a book a day!
Hey Laura,
I often mention on my blog different books which I have read or am currently reading and I love to share my experiences with my readers, getting their thoughts on a variety of topics.
I just finished reading an excellent book tailored to the Network Marketing industry called “Beach Money” by Jordan Adler. If you get a chance to pick up this title, I think that you will find it a very good quick read.
One other thing that I always say when in comes to books and personal development cd’s. Never buy any book that you read just once, you will have wasted your money. Every time you read the book or listen to a tape you will get something else out of it.
Thanks for Sharing Laura,
Kevin
Thanks Laura for this post. I think in our lives we can never learn enough. I look forward to your list of e-books. Books are so accessible online anymore that we do not have any excuses not to be learning everyday. This also helps us as we become successful network marketers.
Barbara
Thanks, Laura for the free gifts…
I agree 100% that leaders are readers (and writers).
Success after all is an inside-out journey!
Great Post!

Totally agree Laura!! Although I have many books that I haven’t completely read yet, I have lots and I love to read. I carry a book or 2 with me ( depending on what mood I am in to read) and I also generally carry too many with me when I am off on an adventure or a visit, cause I always want to read so much. Always learning and helping myself be more successful.
Laura,
I am looking forward to your list. I read everyday. I am always looking for new material. My wife and I have changed our lives dramatically by improving ourselves. I relationship is better now than it was 6 years ago.

Really true! Being a wide reader will greatly benefit both the mind and spirit of the person. Now that eBooks are really accessible these days, it is easy for us to search good books through a wide array of archives. One of the great benefits of internet.
This is a fabulous list and I appreciate you putting it together. Some of the eBooks here are ones that those of us who own a small business refer to a lot.
Books are an invaluable resource and I hope to see more lists like this one, Thank you.
